Guest lecture by Prof Mariia Dorosh”Science and education in Ukraine” at H-BRS

On Thursday, 25 September, visiting professor Mariia Dorosh from Chernihiv Polytechnic National University (CPNU) gave an impressive guest lecture on the subject of “Science and education in Ukraine during the war: current reality. The impact of war on educational and scientific processes. Challenges and opportunities for development.”

The Professor of Software Engineering provided insights into the changed academic conditions in her home country and also into the challenges of daily life under wartime conditions. Despite all the restrictions and obstacles, the CPNU has never lost touch and has developed new formats not only for teaching, but also for conferences and laboratory activities.

Mariia Dorosh has already visited the Department of Computer Science several times as part of a DAAD funding programme. As part of this cooperation, several joint projects were successfully carried out last year, such as the participation of Ukrainian students in the lecture “Integration Architectures” (Prof. Sascha Alda, Luca Ringhausen) or the publication of joint research results with Prof. Petra Haferkorn, an expert in IT security management. She was also accepted as a member of the NRW Doctoral College (PK NRW) as part of a joint doctoral project with Prof Petra Haferkorn and Prof Rainer Herpers.
